Founded in 1990, Alfa Banking Group offers a wide range of products and operates in all sectors of the financial market, including corporate and retail lending, deposits, payment and account services, foreign exchange operations, cash handling services, custody services, investment banking and other ancillary services to corporate and retail customers.
Alfa Banking Group is headquartered in Moscow, Russia, with branch network consisting of 723 offices across Russia and abroad, includes a subsidiary bank in the Netherlands and financial subsidiaries in the United Kingdom and Cyprus, and employs approximately 23 thousand people. In 2014 Alfa-Bank has won the tender held by the Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA) aimed at rehabilitation of Baltiyskiy Bank, as a result PJSC «Baltiyskiy Bank» became a member of the Alfa Banking Group. Direct shareholders of Alfa-Bank are JSC «AB Holding», which owns more than 99% of its shares, and ALFA CAPITAL HOLDINGS (CYPRUS) LIMITED that owns less than 1% of the bank. The main beneficiaries of the Alfa Banking Group are Mikhail Friedman, German Khan and Alexei Kuzmichev.
The Alfa Banking Group has maintained its position as the top Russian private bank by total assets, total equity, customer accounts and loan portfolio. Its corporate and retail client base has grown considerably during the last few years — as of December 31, 2016 Alfa Banking Group served about 381 600 corporate customers and 14.2 million retail clients (including customers of PJSC «Baltiyskiy Bank»). In 1H 2017 , the Alfa Banking Group continued its development as a universal bank with the following core business lines: corporate and investment banking, SME, trade and structured finance, leasing and factoring, retail banking (including consumer finance, retail lending and credit cards, current accounts and deposits, services through remote channels).

According to the strategy of the Alfa Banking Group the strategic priority is to maintain its status as the leading private bank in Russia, while enhancing stability and assets quality, and to set the industry standards in key areas such as customer experience, technology, efficiency and teamwork.
In 2016 Alfa Banking Group successfully issued perpetual subordinated loan participation notes in the amount of USD 700 million. This issue was unique for the Russian market. After the Basel III standards implementation it was the first in Russia issuance of perpetual Eurobonds. The first call option is scheduled for February 3, 2022, with the initial coupon rate fixed at 8% per annum (quarterly payable).
Alfa Banking Group is among the highest rated Russian private banks by the leading international rating agencies. On 30 March 2017 Fitch Ratings affirmed the Long-term Issuer Default Ratings of JSC Alfa-Bank at «BB+», revised the Outlook to «Stable» from «Negative». On 18 May 2017, S&P Global Ratings affirmed its long-term counterparty credit rating at «BB» on JSC Alfa-Bank with Positive outlook. According to the Agency, despite the ongoing economic problems besetting the Russian economy the Alfa Banking Group maintained high credit quality of assets over the past few years and strengthened capitalization. On 24 May 2017 Moody’s Investors Service confirmed the Ba2 rating of JSC «Alfa-Bank» with Stable outlook, and upgraded the Baseline Credit Assessment (BCA) and adjusted BCA to ba2 from ba3. On 29 August 2017 Expert RA assigned the national-scale credit rating at «ruAA» on JSC Alfa-Bank with Stable outlook. On 15 November 2016 Analytical Credit Rating Agency (ACRA) assigned AA(RU) national-scale credit rating on JSC Alfa-Bank with Stable outlook.

Alfa-Bank confirms its leading position in the Russian banking sector. The Bank was awarded the «Financial Olympus» prize in the nomination «Reliable Bank» in 2016. Alfa-Bank and its premium program «Maximum +» entered the Top 3 best offers in the segment of premium banking service according to Frank Research Group. The Bank also won the «Best Remote Banking Service» nomination for a special offer for the clients of «Maximum +» and «A-Club» — «Alfa-Mobile Premium». Alfa-Bank was awarded with the international payment system VISA within the framework of the global program Visa Global Service Quality Performance Awards for the high quality of the provided operational services to the bank’s customers, holders of Visa cards. the Bank won for its work in 2015 in the Best bank in Authorization approval rate & Risk efficiency nominations for the fifth time. In addition, A-Club Private Banking topped the Forbes rating «The best Russian bank for millionaires» among Russian banks without state participation. Alfa-Bank became the winner in the nomination «Best Retail Customer Service» as a customer friendly bank that has impeccable relationship with individual clients according to the FutureBanking portal. Alfa-Bank received the award for the Basel II, Basel III implementation project in the Security, Fraud, and Risk Management category according to Celent, a member of the Oliver Wyman Group. Alfa-Bank becomes the «Best Bank in the Foreign Exchange Market» for the fourth year according to the «Dealer of the Year» national contest of the Moscow International Currency Association. Alfa-Bank was named the best bank in the foreign exchange market in 2015 (The Best Forex Desk 2015) according to the «Dealer of the Year» of the Moscow International Currency Association. By the end of 2015, Alfa-Bank was among the top three Russian factors, according to the Association of Factoring Companies (AFC). A lot of people never even HEARD of Alfabank but that is going to change. Ever since I have switched to them, I have seen more growth than I have ever seen at my old bank.
